Submission
The scientific committee of the 29th annual conference of the Indian association of cardiovascular & thoracic anaesthesiologists (IACTACON2026 VISAKHAPATNAM) invites abstracts for Janak Mehta award paper presentation, free paper and e-poster presentation during the conference to be held from 27th, 28th Feb & March 1st 2026 at Vizag conventions, Visakhapatnam.
Guidelines and procedure for conduct of Janakmehta Award Papers
- • Eligibility: Dr Janak Mehta Best Paper Award is given to the best paper presented, by a junior member (age less than 35 years) of IACTA, at the IACTA Annual Conference. All presenters should be member of IACTA and should be a registered delegate for the conference.
- • Applications for the Janak Mehta Best Paper Award should be sent as a submission to the organizing committee as routine submission with a title “Submission for Janak Mehta Best Paper Award Session”.
- • Only original work (no case reports) will be considered. Only one paper from one individual can be submitted.
- • From the date the authors of these six papers are informed by email, none of the six can send the papers for publication or presentation at any other platform. In case they have sent it already for publication, they should inform the same immediately to the chief editor, ACA.
- • Out of all submitted papers, the papers which are left out from podium presentation (i.e. other than the six selected for competitive Janak Mehta session) are informed by the organizing secretary/scientific chairman, about the decision of jury. The authors of these papers may opt to present their papers in free paper session in case they wish so. If they agree to present during free paper session, the organizing secretary /scientific chairperson should inform them the date and time of free paper session related to their presentation.
- • The last date of submission for 2026 conference is 25th Feb 2026. (may be changed according to the requirements and in consultation with the Chief Editor). Incase changed, the further timeline needs to be readjusted accordingly.
- • The podium presentations will be on 28th Feb, 2026 (second day of the conference in forenoon session before lunch).
- • Submission deadline: 25th Jan 2026. Acceptance notification by email after 15th Feb 2026.
The breakup of total 50 marks is as follows:
10 marks: Introduction including research question, novelty of the idea, clinical utility of the idea.
15 marks: Methods and analysis.
10 marks: Results
10 marks: Discussion
5 marks: Presentation quality.
- Presentation time for each speaker: 8 min. (first bell will buzz at 7 min. and second bell will buzz at 8 min.)
- Discussion: Duration: 5 min.; after each presentation. There will be three questions asked i.e. one question by each member of the Jury. If the presenter is from the institute of any of the Jury member, that Jury member will not ask the question and the question will be passed to audience. Chief Editor as coordinator will allow one person to from the audience to ask the question (making sure that the person from audience is not from the same institute of the presenter).
- In case of falsification of any nature or suppression of any material information which come to the knowledge of IACTA before presentation or after presentation at a later date, the award, citation/certificate and the award money will be recalled, and the impropriety shall be officially communicated to head of the department, to head of the institution and to the Institute Ethics Committee and the principle investigator. Principal investigator, co-investigators and the presenter shall be expelled from the primary membership of IACTA for a period of at least 10 years and they all shall not be eligible to contest for any official position of IACTA for a further period of 5/10 years from the date of re-instatement as decided by IACTA GBM.
Publication of selected papers at ACA:
• The paper which wins the Janak Mehta Best Paper award will be published in the Annals of Cardiac Anesthesia as an original article after going through the review process of ACA. Below the title of the article, it will be written in the journal as “Winner of Janak Mehta Best Paper Award - 2026”. Rest 5 selected papers of this session will also be reviewed and if found suitable, will be published in ACA. On the decision of the Chief editor, if a paper is found not suitable for ACA, the author is informed (within three month after the conference) and then that author is free to send it to any other journal for publication. Till the Chief Editor takes the decision on these six papers, these are the property of ACA and they cannot be sent to any other journal for publication or any other platform for presentation.
